Meet the team

Mike has over 14 years experience in the production industry. Starting his career behind the camera then moving into post-production, as a visual media communications expert he now specialises in directing and project management. Mike spent four and a half years of his career travelling across Asia producing promotional and corporate videos for an international media company. He is the co-founder of Australian charity Kenya Aid leading him to be a guest speaker for The United Nations Young Professional Conference. He has also been a lecturer at the Digital Marketing Institute, on the effectiveness of video marketing. Mike founded Trapdoor Productions in 2006. Mike Pritchett - Director

Over the last 10 years Jimmy has worked for advertising agencies, film production companies and in multiple countries directing, editing and producing video content. He loves nothing more than getting his hands on a new brief and the challenge of coming up with some new and exciting ideas. Jimmy’s helped countless brands develop their video campaigns including: Adobe, Nikon, Nivea, Jetstar, Toshiba and Volkswagon. He loves nothing more than getting his hands on a new brief and the challenge of coming up with some new and exciting ideas. Jimmy’s helped countless brands develop their video campaigns including: Adobe, Nikon, Nivea, Jetstar, Toshiba and Volkswagon. When he’s not in the office, you can find Jimmy roaming the northern beaches looking for waves and pretending he can surf.

He has worked with brands like Nikon, Adobe and HP. He not only knows his way around post-production, but also in the kitchen. Yes, he loves to eat but he’s also trained in culinary arts. Once the brief is nailed, it goes into the concepting room, where the fun starts!

How we work

PRE-PRODUCTION
  • Each project starts with a full strategic analysis, where we take an in-depth look at our client’s business, their goals and their target audience.
  • We summarise this into a video campaign strategy and a creative brief.
  • Our creative team works with the brief – exploring every angle, brainstorming ideas and identifying the most effective creative solution for your campaign. 
  • Scripts, storyboarding, style frames and animatics are used to help in visualising the ideas.
  • While this is happening, our production team book in crew, kit, locations, talent, wardrobe, props and sort all necessary permits for your shoot to go ahead.

PRODUCTION
  • During the shoot, our team of Director’s, D.O.P.’s and Producer’s work together to bring your concept to life. 
  • Trapdoor Productions is structured to be as flexible as possible. We believe each shoot is unique and we bring in the right kit and best people for the job. This could be a 37 DSLR rig for a time freeze sequence, or a 4k Arri Alexa mounted onto a mocon jib for compositing together multiple takes of the same shot. Whatever you need, we can make it happen.

POST-PRODUCTION
  • When the shoot is wrapped, its over to our team of editors / motion designers / and 3D artists.
  • Image quality is maintained throughout the entire post-production pipeline, to ensure the highest quality all the way through to titles, graphics and the final grade.
  • Finally, our clients can come and view their work in its final stages – sitting back in the comfort of our state of the art editing suite.

Where we do it

Trapdoor houses the latest equipment and facilities to ensure our clients get the best possible quality videos.
With the use of multiple edit stations, an audio suite with soundproofing and a state-of-the-art editing/grading suite, we cater for all aspects of postproduction in-house and make sure our clients are looked after from beginning to end.
For all the nerds out there, we’re running 120 terabytes of high-speed video RAID connected via fibre channel. We use the complete Adobe Suite, Final Cut, 3ds Max and Cinema 4D, combined with pallet desks, foosball and a Ping-Pong table… we’re a confused bunch!
